Silent nature

This piece dwells upon issues of femininity, autonomy of art and effects of art. Silent nature refers to a specific subjectivity, developed within these three directions and of which relation with the world can be resumed as harmlessness.

In this piece I chew and spit parts of my philosophy highschool textbook and with it an accumulation of ideas and ideologies of my own education. After the weakening of great causes, great narratives and heroes we are left with pieces, fragments, ruines. Most of them are inoperable. History becomes ecology’s biggest problem. What can we do with the leftovers? Do we live with them? Do we dispose of them?

Eclipse glasses

series of 25 objects, didactical slides for Romanian history courses, cardboard, 2009.
The glasses are not to be worn in the event of an eclipse, rather they are the product of a permanent eclipse, the history as an eclipse: both hiding and revealing. Photographs of real events become ideology in their use in history lessons. They may come to represent a “truth” that is no longer questioned like in the worn glasses, where these images are invisible because they are too close. The glasses address the danger of considering history as nature.
